The Best Buy student discount is only available if you're enrolled at an accredited school. If you graduate or leave school for any reason, you're no longer eligible for the discount.

How to Use Your Best Buy Student Discount

Unlike a lot of student discounts, the Best Buy student discount isn't automatic. It only applies to specific items, and it functions more like a coupon that you have to clip and turn in than a regular discount.

The basic process requires you to use the Member Offers page to find an item that's eligible for the discount, add that item to your cart, and then click the Apply button during checkout to actually receive the discount.

Here's what the process looks like from start to finish:

Locate a product you want to buy and click Shop Now.

Make sure the offer has the Student Deals icon. Other offers are just sale items that are available to all members.

Verify that the item has the Student Deals tag and click Add to Cart.

Click Go to Cart if you're done shopping.

Verify the items in your cart, choose whether to pick up your item or have it shipped, How do you reload a Walmart gift card? student discount youtube premium and click Checkout when you're ready.

Your student discount will not appear on this page.

Enter your address and click Continue to Payment Information.

Look for the My Best Buy Offers and Rewards section and click Apply.

If you skip this step, you won't receive your student discount.

Verify that your discount has been applied and click Place Your Order.

Return to the Best Buy Membership Offers site the next time you want to use your student discount.

When does Amazon Prime Day end in the UK? Date, time and details

Needless to say, many have picked up new habits in 2020.

We’ve all done our very best to adjust to the restrictions brought about in response to the pandemic and it has been important to find more things to do indoors.

Some have decided to take up more cooking and master the culinary arts, whereas others have decided to tackle some bucket list viewing and finally dive into some box sets.

Whether you’ve been embarking on more exercise, reading or all of the above, we suspect you’ve also been doing a little more online shopping.

Flocking to Amazon to purchase gadgets, books and beyond has arguably become even more of a widespread pastime for the masses so far this year.

In fact, The Verge reported back in July that Amazon doubled its net profit year over year to $5.2 billion, compared to $2.6 billion at the time in 2019.

So, for all the money you’ve spent, the time has come to save some…

  • Amazon Prime Day ends on Thursday, October 15th 2020 at 00:00.
  •

As noted by The Sun, Amazon Prime Day actually ran for two days, taking place on Both Tuesday, October 13th and Wednesday, October 14th 2020.

So, customers are able to take advantage of deals until midnight on Wednesday, October 14th 2020.

The sale was launched back in 2015 in celebration of their 20th birthday but has returned annually.

There are a wide range of deals up for grabs in a wealth of departments, whether you’re after clothes, blu-rays, tech, toothbrushes or more.

Do you have to be a Prime member?

Yes, you have to be a member of Amazon Prime to be able to access deals across the two-day sale.

If you’re already a member, there’s no need to enter codes or anything like that as the discounts have already adjusted the price.

So, just pop the sale item you wish to buy in your basket and proceed from there!

However, if you’re not an Amazon Prime member, The Sun highlights that membership is priced at either £7.99 a month or £79 a year.

A 30-day free trial is currently available, so if you’ve always been keen to check out the benefits of Prime, now is the time.

The previous source also acknowledges that they offer a six-month free trial to students; after this, you pay just £3.99 a month.

Amazon pays a slightly higher rate to accept your payment without the CVV, but the CVV is not strictly required to present a transaction - everybody uses CVV because they get a lower rate if it is present (less risk, less cost). Nobody who knows what they are doing will store your CVV - if the card networks suspect that you are storing CVV, you will have forensic auditors on your site REALLY fast.

That code isn't necessary. This may cause more fraud and more chargebacks, but Amazon keeps those numbers low so that they can offer a faster shopping experience such as one-click.

The only thing necessary to make a purchase is the card number and, in all but rare cases, expiration date, whether in number form or magnetic. Most systems require more information (such as matching full name, bank phone number, physical billing address with zip code, et al) so that they can deal with fraud and/or chargebacks, and sometimes this is enforced by the issuing bank.

Where is the procedure defined? As noted above, it's the bank that boards the merchant account and there is a wide range of flexibility depending mostly on the merchant's track record for many good transactions and very few chargebacks. You and I might not be able to process transactions without an exp date, but Amazon surely can if they want to.

The CVC (sometimes "CVV" or "CVV2") is supposed to indicate whether the card is present at the time of the transaction. Card companies require that it never be stored or recorded, but rather passed directly from the customer to the merchant gateway and then immediately forgotten. Therefore, any time you give that number to a merchant, they're supposed to use it immediately and then immediately forget it.

Since this number is theoretically never recorded in any database, having this number present at the time of the transaction should indicate with greater certainty that the card itself is truly present and therefore that the transaction is not fraudulent. As such, providing this number decreases the probability of the transaction being rejected.

Alternately, a transaction submitted without the CVC indicates that the transaction was submitted using previously stored credit card information, but the card was not itself present at the time of the transaction.

Some merchants ask you to provide this number when saving a card on file. What they should be doing with the verification code if they do so is requesting verification from the bank that the code does in fact match, but then they should not store the CVC code in their database. The purpose would be to ensure that you're not storing on file a stolen credit card--primarily for the merchant's safety.

If a merchant does in fact store this code and a card company finds out, it's big trouble and can result in some steep fines.

Amazon Prime Shopping

Free Two-Day, Same Day, and One-Day Shipping

Amazon Prime’s oldest and possibly most famous benefit is free 2-day shipping for Prime items. Depending on where you live and object availability, that can sometimes be reduced to one day.

But my favorite Prime shipping perk is the ability to opt for No-Rush Shipping in exchange for credits, usually for digital downloads. I like to collect digital credits to use towards movie rentals. You can even game this a little by placing separate no-rush orders for individual items. The best part is that your orders often will arrive within the 2-day window anyway.

Note that due to Covid-19, we are seeing this offered less, and shipping can take longer than 2 days currently. We expect this perk to come back, though!

Here’s a screenshot of what the No-Rush Shipping credit looks like.

Prime Now

Prime Now offers 2-hour delivery times on certain items in select markets. Certain city-dwellers (I tested a Chicago zip code) can enjoy 2-hour delivery on things like cleaning products, batteries, baby wipes, and more. Those in Chicago can also shop local grocery or Whole Foods using Prime Now.

When I tried using a zip code from just outside Pittsburgh, PA, Whole Foods was the only option for 2-hour delivery through Prime Now.

Overall, this is an excellent perk for those wanting grocery delivery in all markets Prime Now services, but if you want household essentials within a 2-hour window, it may be best to try another same-day shipping service.

Prime Rx

Amazon Prime’s Pharmacy, Prime Rx, gets you fast, FREE 2-day delivery on prescriptions. Plus, get exclusive savings when paying without insurance.

Early Access to Lightning Deals

Lightning Deals can sell out quickly, but Prime members get a 30-minute head start.

Alexa Deals

Some Amazon deals are only available when you order via voice search with Alexa. You can ask, “Alexa, what are your deals?” or you can go to the Alexa Deals page at Amazon to see what they are.

You’ll need an Alexa-enabled device like an Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Amazon Tap, Echo Show, or Fire TV to access these exclusive deals.

Access to Amazon Prime Day Deals

Let’s be honest, your fear of missing out is a big part of why you’re considering a Prime membership this week. Amazon’s Prime Day sales are only open to subscribers. The party that promises some of the best deals this side of Black Friday is members only.

Prime Rewards

A question we hear frequently from our fans is whether or not the Amazon Prime credit card is worth it. With 5% back on Amazon purchases and no annual fee, our credit card expert Mark Jackson certainly thinks so. You can read more about his take on the Amazon credit card in our article about the best credit cards for everyday spending.

First, let’s look at what the Prime Rewards card pays:

How should you use the card?

Compared to many other travel credit cards, the Amazon Prime Rewards card offers fewer earnings on both bonus and non-bonus category spending.

For example, the Chase Sapphire Reserve gets you 3 points per dollar spent on travel and dining at restaurants, while the Costco Anywhere Visa® Card by Citi earns 4% cash back on eligible gas for the first $7,000 per year and 1% thereafter.

You even can beat the 5% cash back at Whole Foods by using the Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express, which offers 6% cash back at U.S. supermarkets (on up to $6,000 per calendar year in purchases, then 1%). Cash back is received in the form of Reward Dollars that can be redeemed for statement credits. Terms apply.

However, if grocery and household spending is a significant chunk of your budget, virtually no card can top the Prime Rewards bonus on spending at Amazon.com.

So let’s look at how much you’d have to spend annually with Amazon to justify the subscription price.

If you're a college or university student (you must verify enrollment), you can get Music Unlimited at $5/month, which is half price. This doesn't require that you have Amazon Prime either!

This isn't a long-term solution, but we'll mention it in case you weren't aware. Amazon Music Unlimited offers a 30-day free trial that lets you evaluate the service. You can sign up by visiting the Amazon Music Unlimited page.

If you finish the trial and decide you don't like the service, you've saved yourself a lot of money! But if you do, see our guide to managing your Amazon Music playlists.

Disney Plus will be carried on Amazon's Fire TV.

Disney CEO Bob Iger has announced reaching a distribution deal with Amazon for Disney Plus, as reported earlier by CNBC. The agreement will see Amazon's Fire TV devices carry the upcoming streaming service, The Wall Street Journal said. Disney Plus confirmed the deal to CNET, saying Iger made the comments during Disney's earnings call late Thursday.

Disney Plus will offer a swathe of old and new Disney, Fox , Pixar , Marvel , Star Wars and National Geographic content. It's priced at $7 a month and launches Nov. 12 in the US, Canada and the Netherlands and Nov. 19 in Australia and New Zealand. Disney announced Thursday that Disney Plus will launch March 31, 2020, in the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

"We've spent the last few years completely transforming The Walt Disney Company to focus the resources and immense creativity across the entire company on delivering an extraordinary direct-to-consumer experience, and we're excited for the launch of Disney Plus on November 12," Iger said Thursday.

The deal follows Disney and Amazon's discussions over the terms of carrying Disney apps on the Fire TV device, according to the WSJ report. Amazon confirmed via email that the Disney Plus app will be coming to its Fire TV streaming devices, Fire TV Edition smart TVs and compatible Fire Tablets -- and Disney will be giving Fire TV and Fire Tablet users a free seven-day trial of Disney Plus.

Amazon Fire users will be able to say "Alexa, open Disney Plus" into their Alexa Voice Remote, Echo or Fire TV Cube with built-in Alexa, Amazon added.

Disney has added support for Samsung, LG, Apple, Google and Microsoft in addition to the Amazon Fire TV, Iger said on the call.

Iger also said Disney-owned FX will be developing content exclusively for streaming platform Hulu, which is also owned by Disney.

"FX is producing original programming for Hulu," Iger said, adding FX's entire library of content will be moved to Hulu. Shows currently airing on FX will be available on Hulu "hours after they air."

A bundle with Disney Plus, ESPN Plus and Hulu with ads will be priced at $13 a month, according to Axios.
