We raised this a while ago on the FuzzyBums Facebook page, but I think it's something we should talk about more. We've been thinking a little bit about developing some Bitty Space Program branded things - t-shirts, mugs, etc. - and selling them for cost, plus maybe adding an option to donate some of the proceeds to Tiny Kittens.
I'd love to know peoples thoughts on this before we nail anything down. Aunt Julie has been checking out some options, including bandanas for the crew (we'd love to start a gallery of crew members wearing outfits, but recognize not everyone can get their kids into tshirts like the awesome Patrick).
Anyway, all suggestions and ideas are welcome for discussion!
I love this idea, would love to drink my morning coffee from a space program mug or proudly wear a tshirt that says something like Mom of Bitty Space Program crew member. Maybe even stickers that can be put on the space crew's toy box or food container that says Crew Member or something.
Love the idea of an option to donate to Tiny Kittens, they have inspired so many rescues and Shelly works so hard to make sure cats and kittens that would otherwise have no chance at surviving, get the best chance they can to grow up and become strong.
Now we just have to figure out how to do it in a way that works. Would love suggestions. Bulk? Try with one small thing? We'd really like to do something for crew members in particular. Need to think about that a bit more too.
I'm open to ideas, but the idea overwhelms me a bit. So need some suggestions.
T-shirts are a must!
I agree about T-shirts. Space blankets? Is that a thing? Like an emergency blanket? That would be sort of awesome wouldn't it?
We would like a T-shirt and shipping to the UK!
What would be a reasonable cost do you think? Obviously there's ways to do it aside from having distribution centres all over the world - we're not quite there yet! Maybe I should go figure out postage rates. It can't be that crazy. People do it all the time on ebay right?
Yes. I have found some kitties in space fleece material. I must see about acquiring it
Love that material Cleo! I can also do some research, I know there is a place that will take orders, then make your items at the end of the order period and mail them out, but not sure what all they include or how much they want to charge. I will do some checking and let you know.
Definitely t-shirts! Mom would wear one for sure! Also maybe bumper sticker or car magnet? And if somebody doesn't have a car...they can put it on their fridge? That would be a "small" thing to add, affordable for many people and a cute little thing to get conversation going!
Other than that, and I'm not exactly sure how doable it would be, but I think cat toys would be awesome. If you could find some way to put the logo on fabric, and find somebody who could make like small kickers or even just small catnip filled sacks or whatever...I think that would be pretty cool. I also like the bandana idea for the crew!
Alternatively, if postage costs are prohibitively high and there is enough interest, we could look into getting T-shirts printed and distributed in the UK for UK peoples!
We’d LOVE a kicker!
Yeah, it's a thought about having shirts done in the UK for Europe for instance. We'll just have to figure out what costs are like. It can't be too crazy. (She says hopefully). I'd like to get on it though, and get something branded. SOmeone suggested iron on stickers, but I don't love that idea. Would rather give people something that is quality.
Loads of people like the idea of shirts, so that might be a good human thing to think about. Could maybe do 30 or something and then if they sell add more. I've bought shirts from a site like that before and it seems to work well.
The Fuzzybums are not allowed kickers (on account of a late night vet visit after Timmy ate a bunch of the ribbons), but I do like the idea of some kind of branded toys. Would be fun to do the logo in a ball somehow...
