I make stuffed cabbage, pieroghi and kolachi - all Slovak foods my baba (my dad’s mom) taught me to make.  

I can also do a lot of Italian dishes. 

I love to bake the most tho.  My other grandmother taught me that.   The gift of baking skipped my mom.  She could cook, I can bake.  

We do stuffed cabbage/cabbage rolls here. We also do what we and maybe in Poland call Galumpkis in Poland it is called Golabki. I can't cook either one of them.  This is one of my favorites. My stepmom was from Poland so we had these every time we went to their house.

Now me. 

Stuffed Green Peppers baked in the oven, can use any bell pepper but I like green ones.

Mac N cheese with green peas baked in the oven. I have done it with small shrimp in it too.

Chicken baked 

Hamburgers and hot dogs on the stove top

Goulash on the stove top but not spicy

Chili on the stove top but not spicy 

with the chili and goulash I don't make it like a lot of people do cause my problem with tomato.

It is just me and the 4 furkids. Man all your foods sounds so good. The cabbage thing made me think of my dad. I miss going there for Easter and Christmas. That is when she made dinner and she made enough for us to take some home. I did the shrimp in the Mac n Cheese after I went to a place called Bubba Gump Shrimp Shop in California. Bubba Gump is from the movie Forrest Gump. They made a restaurant from that. It was so good I had to do it. My mom put peas in the mac n cheese so we got our veggie. My brothers didn't like it but my mom sat with us till we ate it all. She also put tomatoes in the mac n cheese but I don't cause of my stomach now has problems with them. She always baked it.

We called them galumpkis. Lol.   If we have a forum retreat (I volunteer my Florida house!) we can make them. 

My stepmom called them the other name but she said they are called Galumpkis in the States. We have a lot of Polish families in our area. One of the churches have Galumpkis dinners a couple times a year. There is a lady at one of the churches that you can call her and order them. She gets her church friends together and makes them. You have to order enough to feed at least 20 people. Hers is just like my stepmom's were.

Mama like stuffed cabbage rolls. I think that they are ok but not my favorite. I make them to mama not to me. I make veggie soap too only to mama. 

We do yesterday bacon pasta. It was yummy. Anything with bacon is yummy. I like shrimps but not snails.

I don't like snails. My brother love oysters I gag. I made what I call a potato bowl. I got the ideal from a restaurant we have here. It is mashed potatoes, corn, cheese, chicken pieces and brown gravy in a bowl. It is one of my favorites. The restaurant one is better but a long walk so not worth it. 

Mom

Pieroghi are potato dumplings....or potato ravioli.   The way I make them, I mash potatoes with sharp cheddar cheese, and place that inside dough.  I boil that for a couple of minutes.    You can fry pieroghi, or boil it longer.  I like it fried.  With sautéed onions and sour cream. 😋

kolachi is a dessert bread.  It’s a yeast dough rolled out, and then you put a filling inside - I use two different ones.  A walnut spread and a poppyseed spread.  You spread one on the dough, then roll up the dough and bake.  It’s very sweet.

Cheddar is one of my favorite cheese´s. 1st is Aura (blue cheese) and then Cheddar. I must someday try to do Pieroghi. They sound delicious.

When my mom made mac n cheese she used sharp cheddar cheese. She wouldn't use any other kind. I really liked it. My oldest brother makes it sometimes and will drop some off to me. I make way too much when I make it. So when my brother has a lunch he has to do he has me make it. Yep 3 pans when I make it. He buys the supplies and when I want some that he makes I buy the supplies. It is just me and the 4 furkids. I don't think they would like to help me eat my make. Well maybe Nate and Matthew will. Everything sounds so good that we have named. It is making me hungry.

I have never made mac & cheese. I know it´s easy to do. Next time when is time to do food shopping I will put in to checklist couple of cheeses and other things what needed to buy. I like test new recipes and if they are good I make them again maybe if needed little modified.

My mom's mac and cheese is easy. She cooks a box of elbow mac drain and rinse put into glass baking dish or cake pan. Dice sharp cheddar cheese to fit the amount of mac. put a can of whole peeled tomatoes. Put salt and pepper on top and bake on 375 for about 45 minutes till the cheese is melted.
